Burning Sensation In Calf, Numbness In Some Area, Some Bruising, Feels Like Lumps Under. What's Going On ?

I dropped a chest on my calf last week friday. Today it has a burning sensation with some cold and its numb in some area. It dosent feel hot or colf to touch just the normal warm. I can walk on it with little to no pain. There is also still some bruising . When you push on it, it burns really bad and there feel like lumps are under there snd you csn still feel the indent that the chest left. There is also edema . I m wondering what s going on with my leg should I go to the doctor?

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hi and welcome to HCM

After going through the entire description it seems to be soft tissue injury . Lump in calf might be due to haematoma formation(collection of blood).
You need an x-ray to rule out any bony injury.
I suggest you to consult your doctor for a detailed examination. You may get the X-ray of the area affected under his/her guidance.Beside icing and elevating it, you can take anti-inflammatory drug like motrin to reduce pain and inflammation.

Hope this will helps you. Take care.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement Dr. K. Naga Ravi Prasad's  Response
Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.

Based on the description, you could have sustained a minor soft tissue hematoma owing to the blunt injury. All other symptoms and signs that are mentioned in the description are a part of the normal inflammatory response. All of these will settle down within 2-3 weeks spontaneously.

Just use intermittant moist heat fomentation over the affected area. If you are still concerned and worried, approach your family physician.

Hope this information is helpful. Good day
