Bats Hanging On Closed Windows Outside The House During Day. History Of Kidney Transplant And Immune Suppressed. Any Health Issues From Bats?

I've had a kidney transplant and am very immune suppressed. On the outside of one of our windw screens, we suddenly have small bats hanging on during the day. It was cute when it was just 2 or 3 but now it's like 17 and outside window sill and screen is covered with disgusting quano. (Not to mention I just pad $8,000 two years ago for all we windows!). My husband thinks this bat thing is great and refuses to consider calling someone in to eradicate the problem. I find it disgusting and am also afraid for my health. He says as long as window is closed, no problem.

Hi, thanks for posting this important question. I would strongly recommend that you get rid of the bats. Their faeces carry lots of potentially harmful organisms (pneumocystis carinii, atypical mycobacteria, etc to name a few) for you. 'Prevention is better than cure'. Even if you keep the window closed, their droppings will eventually spread to wider area and are potentially hazardous to you. After a lot of persuasion I have managed to get a couple (husband immunosuppressed and my patient) get rid of bird pets. Good luck.
