Are There Any Side Effects Of Using Dual Topical Gel During Pregnancy?

I am 28 weeks pregnant and have been using Duac topical gel once a day throughout my pregnancy. I have told my OB that I'm using it and she says it's fine but I would like another opinion. Have I hurt the fetus? I am 5'6'' and now at about 131lbs at 28 weeks.

Hallow,

Duac topical gel is a gel for local application, not for systemic use. It contains clindamycin phosphate and benzoyl peroxide.

The evidence so far has not shown any adverse effects on the foetus or embryo with its use during pregnancy.

So you need not have any doubt on your doctor's advice of continuing its use during pregnancy.

However, it is a dictum that any medicine should be used during pregnancy only if it has definite advantages.

I hope this answers your query.
