Are Delayed Periods Due To Irregular Intake Of Glucophage?

Hello, I have been diagnosed with PCOS 3 months ago and I m on Glucophage 850 1 tablet a day . It worked imiedetly and since i started it i had periods every 27 days on the clock! This month i missed 2 doses (2 pills) and now my period is late 2 days. Would missing the dose cause that? I am trying to have a baby but i am so scared to test, so many disappointments so far taught me not to!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
PCOS disorder itself is known to be associated with irregular menstruation. Hence, irregular intake of Glucophage does not cause irregular menstruation.
Glucophage acts by decreasing insulin resistance, which would help in timely ovulation.
In case you have associated irregular menstruation, it needs to be regularised by means of birth control pills.
Kindly consult your doctor for proper evaluation and management. Kindly take present medication as suggested.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
