Are Antibiotics Adequate To Cure Influenza, Sinus Congestion And Hacking Cough?
4 days ago I showed positive for influenza b. I m 48 and basically healthy. This morning I woke with terrible sinus congestion, and have had a hacking cough the whole. My chest rumbles when I breath in dep and quick. When I cough, I rarely cough anything up except a few times a day. It can be yellowish green first thing in the morning, but yellowish mostly clear in the afternoon and on. I have no fever anymore. I saw a doctor on Monday. No pneumonia, but my respitory symptoms weren t nearly as bad on Monday as they are now. Is this just the nature of the flu or should I really press for antibiotics? How long do the respitory symptoms generally last with a flu? At what point with all this congestion could it be a sinus infection that requires antibiotics? Thank you
HI Thank for asking to HCM I really appreciate your concern for your problem but antibiotic wont work here if this is a really flue and taking antibiotic would be useless, this would be self limiting phenomenon and does not need any treatment unless the symptoms are very severe, then antihistamine is the best option, this may take 5 to 10 days to come around, hope this information helps you have a good day.
