9 Year Old Son, 3-5 Bowel Movements Daily. Poops Having Horrific Odor. Remedy?
My json who iss9 consistly goes moves his bowels at least 3-5 times a day. I inquired about this to my primary that suggested a diet. However it has not changed. He poops have a horrific odor and now is being excluded from playing with other children in the neighbor hood,which in turn affects him psychologically. I'm at wits end and concerned it more of a medical problem. We need help, to correct the issues, and don't know where to begin.

Hi , i am Dr.Kadhir , first i would like to say most of the times stools (poops) with bad odor are mostly due to what he eat but some times it can even be a sign of a underlying medial problem. i can understand your concern , i would like to ask few questions ,
1. whether he has altered consistency of his stools ( diarrhea)
2. ever you have noticed blood in his stools or it looks pale in color .
3. whether he has abdominal pain / loss of appetite
4. whether he has any recent weight loss or faltering of growth.
5. whether his stools remain floating even after flushing
6. any particular food intake you relate more with his symptoms?
7. whether he is worried due to his symptoms
If any of the questions answer is yes. then he definitely needs an pediatrician opinion. The key issue here is that he is being isolated and he feels worried due to his problems. I difficult to reassure that its normal with out ruling out any possible medical condition. but i can assure you that most of the medical conditions can be treated effectively. thank you for your consultation
