9 Year Old, Falling Down For No Reason, Pain In Muscles. History Of Seizures. Any Ideas?

Our daughter is 9 yrs old. We adopted her when she was 3 years old. She has a seizure once every year to two years other wise healty. Six months ago started walking on her tip toes and we tell her to walk on her feet and she will but then right back to her tip toes. She falls a lot now for no reason. She has told us her muscles hurt in the calf of her leg down to her feet and she tells us her muscles feel tight. Very athletic. All "A"s in school. What can I ask our Dr. we dont have any ideal.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

Tip toe walking is abnormal in this age group and it is due to short or stiffened calf muscles.

There are many causes for this problem such as muscle disorders, spinal problems, and motor problems.

Physiotherapy and prosthesis will help to decrease the associated stiffening of calf muscles and to lengthen the muscles and tendon.

I advise you to consult the pediatrician to examine her walking pattern to know the abnormality and to advise the appropriate management.

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards.
