6 Year Old Child, Having Bad Behavioral Problem. Taking Children S Claritin For A Year. Will This Cause Behavioral Problem?

My grandson who is 6 years old has been taking children's claritin for almost a year straight and in the last couple weeks started having very bad behavioral problems. Could there be any chance the medication could cause this to happen and should he be on it for such a long term time. My daughter-in-law seems to think it is fine?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

Claritin is an anti-allergic medicine. You have not mentioned the reason why it is being administered. Without a complete history it is not feasible to give you a precise response. However if there is no need then it should not be given.

I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.

Wishing your grandson.
