Hi,
Thank you for your query,
Urine infection in your child is mostly of bacterial cause and the causative organism will be known by the urine culture.
The cause of tummy pain in your child is Urinary tract infection now.
As you told this is 3rd time he is getting urinary tract infection; The underlying causes of urinary tract infections like congenital renal and ureter anomalies, vesicoureteral reflux, phimosis should be looked into and further evaluation with ultrasound, Micturating Cysto Urethrogram to be carried out.
So consult your Pediatrician and take proper medical advise.
Hope i have answered your query, still you have any doubts you can reach me through Healthcare Magic.
Thank you once again.

Hi Rjsusan,
Thanks for writing your query.

Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) can develop even due to urinating in unhygeinic public toilets.
It might be a possibility that the school toilet your child is using is not clean.

Other causes of recurrent UTI can be :-
1. Renal stone
2. Holding the urine for long (it might be case in your child as some children donot go to toilets for long periods in schools due to either fear of asking permission from teacher or due to shyness)
3. Phimosis resulting in incomplete evacuation of bladder

You should get an Ultrasound of lower abdomen done with emphasis on KUB region to rule out any renal pathology.

Also have culture/senstivity test of urine done to know the causative organism and the appropiate antibiotic.

Also encourage him to go to toilets during school hours and not to hold urine for long periods.

I hope this is helpful to you.
Thanks.

Hi,
Thanks for your query,
Recurrent urinary tract infection in a male child needs to be evaluated.I advise you to consult pediatric urologist,he needs to have urine culture, kidney and bladder ultrasound.
In the meantime i suggest you to give meftal (mefenemic acid)for pain abdomen.
give him plenty of fluids, fruit juices.proper hygiene needs to be maintained.proper hygienic conditions of toilets also need to be seen as his problem is increasing by using toilets in school.

Wishing your son good health.
God bless
