5 Year Kid, CBC Blood Tests Done. Low Rbc, High Platelets, Swollen Lymph Nodes In Neck. Suggestions?

My son just turned 5 and had his CBC bloodwork done, I received his results today showing low red blood cell levels and high platelets. At his checkup he also had swollen lymph nodes in his neck. I am feeling very concerned. We are following up with a pediatric hematologist. What could this mean? I am beginning to panic after reading different articles. Thank you

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi ,
Thank you for your query.
You should have mentioned the hemoglobin of the child.Without it it is very difficult to comment on the blood picture,
It looks like a viral infection and there should not be much reason to worry.
Please mention the counts when you describe the hematological picture in the future.
If you have any further queries you are free to consult me.
Hope this answers your query.
Wishing a speedy recovery.
Have a nice day.
I find this answer helpful
