Hi
How is she regards to her activity, food intake, weight and height?
Have you checked her thyroid profile anytime? Low thyroid hormones can present with severe constipation,
hair fall etc. But they do have other problems like low intellect,
dry skin, low appetite,
excessive weight gain etc.
Constipation from 8 months- needs to be addressed as
chronic constipation will result in anal fissures, which may bleed and produce low
hemoglobin. Also anal fissures will again result in holding while passing stools that may aggravate the constipation.
So lot of fluids and fibre should be added in her diet.
Say no to junk food.
Ask your doctor for stool softeners.
At home you may give her plenty of fresh home made juices.
And give her a nutritious diet- with pulses, eggs, vegetables and fruits.
Green leafy vegetables, dates, water melon, pumpkin etc are rich in iron too.
If constipation does not improve after diet modification and stool softeners too, she needs to be evaluated further.
