Hi, my son has a cut on his knuckle, the cut hasn't healed, it is now very, very swollen and hot to touch, I assume it may be infected, my son feels fine, but worrying as the size of the swelling continually increases today. It's late Saturday night, is this ok to leave till morning to get seen by the doctor, my son is 15. Many thanks emma.

Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The swelling in the area of cut is suggestive of an infection in the area of the injury. This can be due to an abscess. This needs a direct clinical examination and systemic antibiotics for releif.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
