14 Year Old With Flat Sore Inside The Cheek. Cancer Chances?

I'm 14 and I have just discovered this recent flat sore on the inside of my mouth on my cheek, I felt it and then began to notice there was a lump that moved around a little in my cheek near it. I tried to google to see if it was serious but got a little frightened when I saw someone talking about cancer. And then I found this site. Any idea of what it could be or if its serious?

Hi,

Thanks for writing to health care magic.

Do not worry.

A physical examination and if required some investigations may be required to identify the cause.

But more common causes of ulcer in that age group is apthous ulcers and cancers etc are very very rare.
So please go to your doctor and get your kid examined.

Hope this helps.
Take care.

Dentist Dr. Bindiya Bhaskar's  Response
Hi Brooke,
Thanks for sharing your concern.

The flat sore inside mouth can be of aphthous ulcer type.
This may be caused due to-
Vitamin deficiencies.
Poor oral hygiene.
Anxiety,stress.
Hormonal changes.
I would advice you to visit a dentist and get a direct clinical examination.
Chance of the lesion being malignant has to be ruled out thro-biopsy.
Meanwhile-Maintain oral hygiene well.
Take plenty of fluids and vitamin rich diet.
Avoid anxiety and stress.
Vitamin becosules, iron and folic acid supplements can be administered.
Hope this helps.
