12 Year Old Asthmatic With Weakness, Looking Pale. Eating Well. Blood Test Suggested. Concerned
hi there. my son is 12 years old he is asthmatic but other than that generally well, over the past few months he has been sent home from school very pale, shaky, and very weak most of the time this happens after activities but he eats like a normal child would so no reason for this to keep accuring, taken him to the gp a few times now as his weight also goes up and down slighty please help I would like him to have a blood test to rule out anything but the gp does not seem concerned.
If your son is growing fine with respect to weight and height then I will not worry about it. As you mention that he is asthmatic then you need to ensure that he gets his asthma medicine regularly and his growth parameters are monitored.
At the most you can go for an examination of hemoglobin and blood sugar to remove your apprehensions.
I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.
Your child needs complete physical examination by a Pediatrician to look for anemia,
signs of vitamin deficiencies, and for the examination of all systems.
He needs basic investigations like complete blood picture to look for the level of hemoglobin,
ESR, chest X-ray, complete urine examination, and thyroid profile.
Therefore I advise you to consult the Pediatrician for the examination and investigations for his paleness and weakness.
