Six Days Ago, I Received Two Vaccinations: Influenza And Pneumonia

default
Posted on Mon, 18 Nov 2019
Question: six days ago, I received two vaccinations: influenza and pneumonia for people over 65. The next day, I had fever, headache, etc. Ask a Doctor told me those symptoms were common.
Yesterday I slept almost all day, only waking to use restroom. I had no appetite.
Today I awoke with sore throat, chills and fatigue. I am not sleeping a lot today.
Could the symptoms of yesterday and today be caused by the pneumonia or flu vaccinations?
Thank you

Brief Answer:
COMPLICATIONS OF FĹU SHOT AND PNEUMOCOCCAL VACCINE

Detailed Answer:
Hi....
Welcome to "Ask a Doctor"service.
I am Dr Ajeet XXXXXXX

I have gone through your query and here is my opinion.

These symptoms are very likely due to your recent vaccination.
They're live attenuated vaccines which are not potent enough to cause the disease but potent enough to initiate an immune response and provide protection.

The vaccination is usually followed by mild fever, fatigue, coryzal symptoms, mild cough, lassitude and headache.
These symptoms would slowly wean off.

You should not worry much about this as these vaccines have a wide margin of safety.

Hope that I have answered your query.
Stay healthy and stay blessed.
Regards.

Brief Answer:
FĹU SHOT AND PNEUMOCOCCAL VACCINE

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back.....

You might be.

As I told you that flu shot is made of inactivated virus that can't transmit overt infection.
The catarrh you are suffering might be contagious as It takes about two weeks (Incubation period is 14 days)to get complete protection from the vaccine and to build absolute immunity.
As the kids have poor antigenic exposure and less immunity, for the time being,it is better to stay away from them.
Close exposure may help in transmitting the droplet infection.
