Question: my 1 year old daughter has had a fever for the past 3 days but just recently went away (i believe it was yesterday morning it stopped)..now she has little bumps on her shoulder, chest and hip ( it looks like little flea bites or bed bug bites) but she is sleeping nonstop and hurts when she has to move or wake up..previous doctor suggested chockenpox because the bites are very itchy for her but she is in more pain than anything else i am giving her tylenol and motrin (alternating) but seems like its not helping

Brief Answer:
Chicken pox can be very painful

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for using the Ask a Doctor service.

I have gone carefully through your question and understand your concern. Chicken pox can be really painful and medicines might often not provide relief. Such a condition may last for one to three weeks. You may try Motrin (Ibuprofen) alone and see if it helps. At this stage antiviral medicines will not help. Apply calamine lotion topically. Isolate her from others since it is contagious.

Feel free to write back.

Regards
