Hi, I Am 36 Weeks Pregnant. Around A Month Back
Question: hi, I am 36 weeks pregnant. Around a month back I developed itching all over my body. There is no visible rash. My doc asked me to do LFT. My report is attached. She said it is normal and there is no cholestasis. She also prescribed udiliv 150mg along with frequent showers and moisturisation. It’s been 3 weeks but there is no relief in the itching. It does not occur when i sleep but during the day and late evenings, it is constant.
Brief Answer:
Liver dysfunction is not present.
Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
I have seen the attached report. There is mild rise in alkaline phosphatase levels which is normal during pregnancy. There is no cholestasis. The feeling of itching all over the body is common during pregnancy due to the hormonal changes in the body. Only frequent moisturization and using calamine lotion can help in reducing it.
Using warm oil massage can also help.
Hope my answer is helpful.
You can ask further queries in case you need any further clarifications.

My doctor also asked me to redo the test since it has been more than 5 weeks. I have attached the latest report. The SGOT and SGPT values are high this time. The doctor has increased the Udiliv dosage to 300mg twice a day and benadryl cough syrup, 1 spoon at night.
Is it cholestasis now? Or is it still in normal range?

Brief Answer:
Levels of SGOT and SGPT are raised.
Detailed Answer:
Hello.
I have seen the attached report.
The levels of SGOT and SGPT are slightly raised. These are suggestive of mild cholestasis. Now that your doctor has increased the dosage of Udiliv, the itching is likely to decrease now. Do take the medicines as prescribed.

Is the Udiliv 300mg treatment enough? Is there any threat to the baby? I have read that ICP can cause stillbirth and meconium discharge.
My Doppler and NST reports are all normal. My doctor has not said anything about delivering the baby earlier than natural labour. Is that the best course of action? Please advise.

Brief Answer:
There is no threat to the baby.
Detailed Answer:
You have very mild rise of liver enzymes. It does not cause any threat to the baby. The ultrasound scan shows that baby corresponds to 36-37 week and there is no abnormality. The baby is getting proper blood circulation and fluid around the baby is also sufficient. There is no need to pre pone the delivery. It is better to wait for natural pains to start if there is no complication.
