Yellow Bruising On Legs And Medium Size Spots. Taking Paxil And Valium. Having Over Active Bladder Condition. Advise?

default
Posted on Fri, 6 Sep 2013
Question: I seem to have a lot of yellow bruising in my legs. Medium size spots, some of them are slightly purple. I do tend to walk into things so this could be one explanation. Also, my son has ADHD and ODD which makes him violent so he does kick me sometimes. Maybe I just bruise easily. I'm quite delicate and waif life. I noticed a rather large yellow spot around my ankle, the size if a tennis ball. It's just yellow and large. Those yellow bruise like spots don't hurt but are visible especially the strange one around my ankle.

I'm in Paxil and Valium but this would not be a side effect. Is this simple bruising or should I worry?

I'm 39, have 5 kids, 3 via cesarean and have an over active bladder condition. I also had a history of anemia and had gestational diabetes during pregnancy.

Brief Answer:
The bruising could be due to fungi infection

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for posting on XXXXXXX

Well, per your description, the bruising might be due to fungi infection (tinea corporis) and given that they are a lot of them, it will be best if you see a doctor to have a look. Normally, bruising usually appear reddish and not yellowish. The yellow bruising could be due to another underlying diseases condition (maybe an autoimmune diseases that is developing) and might need further clinical investigation in order to determine this.
Given your numerous medical history, I suggest you see a doctor.

Hope this helps and wish you the best.

I only have a few spots the size of my thumb. I have only 2 on my left leg one if which is bluish purple and then 3 in my right leg. Then that is that larger sized one by my ankle. What r autoimmune diseases? What could be wrong w me? I feel fine! It's nothing like cancer or lupus is it?

Brief Answer:
Do not get alarmed yet to the worst

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for updating. It would have been more useful if I had pictures of them to be able to distinguish the type of lesions first. Lupus is a type of autoimmune diseases and bruising or rashes could be early signs but we are far from that yet. Spontaneous skin bruising usually signify that there is an ongoing diseases that is probably developing. Like I said, do not get alarmed for the worst already, you might not be suffering from idiopathic purpura. Do see a doctor how ever for review.

Hope this helps

I'm very worried and this worrying does not help my anxiety. Please can u send me an email address to which I can attach a picture of the yellow bruise?

When I was pregnant, I had a blood test done. It revealed something about the antigens and antibodies and about things attacking each other. Apparently this could have harmed the baby so I had to have regular blood tests done. This was almost 2 years ago. The Obgyn said that this condition could have been through the blood transfusions I got in the past after my 2 cesarean sections. He said there could have been something in the donors blood that reacted w mine. Lupus is serious, hope I don't have that. My god, I have 5 kids to live for

Brief Answer:
Like I said, it is just a possibility

Detailed Answer:
Well, I had to answer your question with the info you provided, that is why I am insisting on you seeing a doctor first as his opinion is much more important.
There are numerous possible causes of your bruises and lupus must not be one of them. If you do not have any family history of that, then you need not worry much as it is mostly a family linked diseases (first degree relatives mostly).
If your blood work in the past revealed auto-attack of immunoglobulins (antibodies/antigens), then it is possible that you might be having an autoimmune diseases which must not necessarily be lupus (there are many others which may affect only the skin and no other organ). Try not to think of the worst and be positive and I believe you will have a great life with your kids.
Please do fine in your reply a place to attach the pictures as we are not allowed for direct communication with you (hope you understand).

I will be here to answer any further question.

Brief Answer:
I have seen the picture

Detailed Answer:
I have taken a look at the bruise and it is not related to lupus nor fungi infection. It is just a bruise probably fatty deposits. I do believe even without medical treatment, you will be fine.
Well be rest assured that it is not lupus and I do not even think it is related to any other autoimmune diseases.

Hope that this helps further.
