Posted on Fri, 18 Dec 2015
Question: I was backing up my car to park in front of my house and i backed up too much and hit the passenger side back bumper into the cable box on my lawn and some paint came off I was only backing up at about 2mph. Could that hurt your back. A few months ago a similar situation happened where I was at the park and backed the car into a metal pole on the same side in the back also and my back was fine

Brief Answer:
Not likely

Detailed Answer:
I read your description carefully and I am sorry about that little accident.

First I must say that the answer is not exact science as vulnerability to having damage from a hit varies from person to person, according to age, sex, other medical conditions (such as osteoporosis, spinal degenerative disease, past trauma) etc.

However in this case, considering the speed of only 2mph and the absorbing effect of the bumper, I would confidently say that the impact has been minor and and shouldn't result in any damage for anyone.
