Brief Answer: DETAILED BELOW Detailed Answer: Hello Thanks for writing to us with your health concern. Your semen count is within normal limits. However your sperm motility is less than normal. Men with low sperm motility might have difficulties in achieving a pregnancy. May I know how long you have been trying to conceive ? Pregnancy is possible with this report, but difficulties maybe anticipated. There are various reasons for a low sperm motility - Stress, tensions in work and life, anxiety, recent illness, surgery or fever, late nights and erratic eating and sleeping habits, junk food, smoking, tobacco consumption, alcohol, drugs like marijuana, radiation, hot tubs or hot sauna baths - all these can contribute. Please eliminate any of these factors if present. Eat fresh, nutritious home made food. Exercise regularly and maintain ideal weight. Avoid drinking and smoking. Prolonged abstinence from sexual activity also can lower sperm motility. Deficiency of copper, zinc, B complex, folate can cause such problems - you can take antioxidant and multivitamin supplements on prescription from a Urologist / XXXXXXX Diet rich in oats, flax seeds, nuts, grains, fresh fruits and vegetables will help. Other causes which require serious evaluation are - genetic abnormalities in sperm motility, infections, blockage of ducts, hormonal imbalances etc. You should consult a Urologist / XXXXXXX and have detailed investigations to know exact reason for low sperm motility. Once diagnosis is made, treatment is accordingly initiated. if the sperm motility fails to improve, you can take help of various techniques in ART ( assisted reproductive technology ) - procedures like IUI ( intra uterine insemination ) or IVF / ICSI can definitely help you to achieve a pregnancy. All the best. Please feel free to discuss further.
