Brief Answer:
Welcome to HCM. I have reviewed your question

Detailed Answer:
It is possible that discontinuing abilify will help you in stopping the weight gain as abilify is in the classification of antipsychotics of which are notorious for
causing weight gain. However, abilify is taken successfully by many depressed individuals seeking relief from their depression by combining the abilify with their antidepressant.

Furthermore, prozac is one of the antidepressants least likely to cause weight gain.

If you were my patient I would start you on a food diary to see if any emotional eating is involved. This occurs frequently without the person even knowing it - snacking to cope with boredom, frustration, lonliness, depression. . .

A food diary is kept by noting the date, time, food, amount, mood for a minimum of 7 days and if you see a psychiatrist you can take it to him or if you have a Registered Dietitian locally, schedule an appointment and touch base with her to see that you are not overeating calories or eating in response to emotions.

In the meantime, try some walking or mild exercise, don't eat 3 hours before bedtime and try to keep your carbohydrates in check.

Good luck and best regards. XXXXXXX Shattler, MS,RDN
