Question: How long do i have to wait before taking methylprednisolone after stopping indocin? I have only taken 2 indocin pills

Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

You are currently taking Indocin for what I guess is pain possible Gout flair and you are transitioning to methylprednisolone. You can stop the indocin today and start the methylprednisilone the following day. We do not recommend drinking alcohol until 1 week after taking indocin as the indocin can affect platelets and increase risk of bleeding. The alcohol may cause some GI bleeding and may also affect bleeding.

In summary
1. Start methylprednisolone the day after stopping indocin
2. Hold alcohol for at least 1 week aftr stopping indocin

I have only taken two doses of indocin, and it was not for gout, it was for inflamation from a sprain. Do you still recommend 1 week before any alcohol consumption?

Yes I would still wait one week as the effects on the platelets last 1 full week even from 1 pill. You could drink but you do run the risk for more GI upset with the alcohol.
