What Should Be Done After Eltroxin Consumtion By An Infant?
Question: Hi Doctor, my child is 18 months old and by mistake he has consumed Eltroxin tablets (75mg). Pls guide if i have to take any action. He consume it approx 2.5 hrs earlier. Pls suggest.

Hi Dear
Welcome to the HCM.
Immediately reach ER,though two and half hours are lapsed drug might have absorbed to of its maxuimum. Still by the gastric lavage at least some of the portion of the drug may be sucked off by the gastric lavage thus reducing the toxicity.
Watch for some untoward symptoms for about 48 hours like palpitation ,breathlessness, flushing, loose motions etc.
Single tablet of eltroxin is not going to do much serious out come with the baby and its effect will wash off in 24 to 48 hours.
