What Kind Of Anaesthesia Is Advisable Before An Orthopaedic Knee Operation?
Question: Orthopaedic knee operation is planned, what kind of anaesthesia is suggested in a mild degree, medically treated myasthenia gravis.

Anesthesia in a Myesthenia Gravis patient is a serious issue for obvious reasons. There is always chances of the respiration and cardiac depression. So mostly regional and local anesthesia is chosen.
In your case as you aid that your disease is under control so it is not to be worried a lot, knee operation, I think a spinal anesthesia is safest. In this drug is given through a thin needle (26 G) in your back. I mentioned size because it is very thin and does not cause any pain, so be relax about that.
Still i will suggest you to let your anesthetist chose his method and type of anesthesia. You can discuss my opinion with him.
