What Is The Life Span Of A Brain Cancer Patient With No Treatment?

Posted on Fri, 6 Jun 2014
Question: Hi
My brother is ignoring his brain tumor actually he has 7 lesions/ tumors in his head I guess that's what they call them. Anyways he is not doing treatment and said he'd rather die peaceful than with hospitals etc. this is his choice I cannot make him but my question is how will he die, slow and painful or at anytime? He has severe headaches and eye pressure but other than that he said he feels ok, he is still walking, talking, eating, driving.
My question is probably odd I just want to know how this will affect him since he's declining treatment and its in his brain! Will he die on day without being very ill? I need to know what to look for since he will be living with me now. Thank you

Brief Answer:
It can't be predicted

Detailed Answer:
Dear
I am sorry for the health problem your brother is suffering.
It seems that motor area aren't effected as your brother moves.I would be more helpful if you send me the brain MRI report.
I have to be sincere with you, unfortunately brain tumor always has the period of aggravation.
It can't be helped as there are a lot of lessions 7.
I would recommend you to let him do whatever he wants and if he will suffer something let me know and I will advise.
Hope my answer helps you

I don't know if I can't get the mri report before this question time period ends. Is there a chance he could just die any day or will he get sicker and sicker? what would the main causes of death be if he was still well looking, walking, talking. Thanks

Unfortunately he will get sicker

Detailed Answer:
Dear
I am sorry for everything which is happening to your brother but unfortunately in most cases patient suffering brain cancer they became sicker and sicker. You should know that the patient won't feel pain after the first symptoms of aggravation (confusion, fatigue, disorientation, breath difficulty, even paralyses)
Rarely thinks happen suddenly, too rarely,

When would the aggrevation happen when it spreads more? What should I be looking for? Basically when that happens be will be in a coma or something. Basically I'm just freaked out that he's ignoring this. Thanks

Brief Answer:
It can't be predicted

Detailed Answer:
Dear
It isn't possible to predict the time when aggravation will start but the first symptoms can be fatigue, breath disorder or paralyses which are caused from the spreading or increasing if lessions.
After the first symptoms will appear then progression is expected.
I am really sorry but you are unable to do something to help him.
It us recommended that dexamethasone is used if symptom are shown.
Hope my answer helps you
