What Is The Cause And Treatment For Pseudomonas Putida?

Question: Hi
I have recently been diagnosed with pseudomonas putida. They did a skin culture of a rash and it came back positive. I was on Cipro and Levaquin. The rash has pretty much went away. But I still have itching in ears and sometimes terrible headaches.
Background... At age 5 I got teniaversicolor. The teniaversicolor has been resistant to creams, washes and Diflucan. At age 17 i had pitariarosia that went away. (Spelling sorry) Starting about 4 years ago I had a terrible battle with staph inside of my breast. I was misdiagnosed twice. And was put on prolonged intervals of antibiotics. I finally found a breast cancer doctor that effectively removed the staph. 3 surgeries later, the cavity of my breast contains the infection was removed. The last of the surgeries happened 1.5 years ago. This past Spring I developed terrible ear problems and became very ill. I have always had ear infections and such since the time I was little. My doctor said that it was another infection and possible sinus infection. She put me on antibiotics. It seemingly went away. She also recommended that I go see an ENT. I have that appointment this week.
Being left with the headache and ear itching from Pseudomonas, I know it's not completely gone. I am 37 year old woman and a smoker. I have also had this chronic, annoying, persistent cough at night time only. I'm sick of being on antibiotics and going to the doctor. I have recently been tested for immune diseases like lupus and r.a. My doctor was trying to figure out why my immunity is compromised and why I keep getting strange things. They came back negative. She also ran a lot of blood tests. No red flags there. The doctor is at a loss for solving these issues. She sent me to a dermatologust. No answers there. She's sending me to an allergist next. I almost want to ignore all of these things and pretend I'm fine. The itchy ears, headaches and night time cough tell me otherwise. I'm sick of being the perfect candidate for the TV show "House" or "Mystery Diagnosis"! I'm starting to grasp at straws and even think maybe the ear infections at the beginning of the year and the pseudomonas are related. In my desperation for answers and good health, I found this website and am writing. Thank You.

Brief Answer:
Need some more details

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for writing to us.

Its not always right that frequent infection could be due to low immunity only.

Frequent inadvertent use of antibiotics can also sometimes lead to frequent infections specially with species like Pseudomonas. The frequent antibiotics usage kills most of the commensal bacteria lowering the first line of defense provided by them. This leads to infections with staph and pseudomonas.

I would like to know,

What antibiotics where you been recently on ?
How was pseudomonas infection diagnosed ?
What treatment are you on now for ear problem ?
If you have recent blood test reports, especially the total leukocyte count and differential count. Please attach them here.

As I stated I have most recently been on Citroën and Levaquin. And it was done by a skin culture test. The doctor literally pin pricked one of the rash bumps and then used a swab on the area. I'm currently on nothing for the.ears. the inside of my ears are occasionally itchy. My skin overall in general feels very sensitve, itchy and sometimes like a hive sensation. All my blood tests came back normal and normal levels. And I'm now taking a daily probiotic.

Brief Answer:
Probiotics will help

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for the information.

I wold consider Probiotics as the lone cure for all your problems. Do continue on the same. A antibiotic free period of few weeks would solve all your problems.

I would recommend antiseptic aural washes to control or treat the ear infections for now.

Do consume good diet rich in proteins and vitamins.

The skin getting sensitive is due to loss of commensal bacteria. This does get replenished in few days. Need not worry.

Pseudomonas species you have on is not seriously virulent. The commensals would take care.
