Posted on Wed, 22 Apr 2015
Question: Hi - I just noticed a very bright yellow, no odour, no itching (although I had a case of that early last week after the antibiotic course but it cleared a few days ago) watery thin vaginal discharge. I'm 36 and 2 weeks out of WLS (gastric sleeve) - what can it be?

Brief Answer:
It can be a normal finding.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for trusting us about your health care.

I can understand your concern here. The yellow color vaginal discharge is mostly due to a yeast infection. After the surgery, giving prophylactic antibiotics can sometime disrupt the vaginal flora and cause this type of infection.

If it is associated with mild itching it can be due to fungal. I would advise you to have a Vagi tab and use it as a vaginal suppository. Also application of Clotrimazole ointment will help in decreasing the infection. But you need to consult your general physician for Fluconzaole 150mg once a week for 4 weeks. That is a prescription drug.

If color changes from yellow to green than your problem needs evaluation.

Drink a lot of water, maintain proper vaginal hygiene and take proper and balanced diet.

Hope it is useful, feel free to discuss more.

Regards
