What Does Twitching By A Child During Sleep Indicate?

Question: Hi , My daughter s 2 years and 8 months old. when she was in her 2 and half years she got 1 st episode of seizure and with in ten days again she got her 2nd episode (both the time she had in her sleep). later we found out that she has twitching at starting of her sleep and in early morning sleep.doctors suggested to use valparin 2.5 ml in the morning and 5 ml at night for 2 years .After that she dint have seizure but twiching has not completely stopped.why is that ?what might be the problem? will this continue for few more years? is it a food related problem or what is the cause? she drinks too much of milk?
im really scared can some one please help on this.

Hi...by what you quote I feel that your daughter might be having a seizure disorder. Valparin is a good choice.

Coming to your queries one by one -

1. Twitching might be a jitteriness due to hypocalcemia or it can be a manifestation seizure. I suggest you get a video EEG done so that the twitching movements can be compared to the EEG and be decided if they are seizures or jitteriness.

2. After the video EEG we will get clear idea on what it is exactly.

3. This is definitely not related to food.

4. This is not related to milk consumption.

I'd suggest you to please get back to me with video EEG report.
