Posted on Tue, 10 Jan 2017
Question: have been refered to a local neurologist because Bell's palsy 2x this year (July and September). Once each side of face. After first had MRI in July and was clean.

Was looking at neuro exams and can do them all but when it comes to foot tapping my dominant side is less fast than non dominant side and feels a but more uncoordinated.

I have no other issues at all. Excel in everything else.

Could this be a sign of ms or tumor?

Brief Answer:
MS or tumor is unlikely.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for posting your query.

I am Dr Sudhir Kumar, Neurologist, and would try my best to help you.

I have noted your clinical details. Based on that, we would be keen to look at two specific areas on the brain MRI: 1. Left frontal area, 2. Right cerebellum. These are the two areas mainly concerned with right foot tapping movements and coordination.

If the MRI of brain is normal, then, MS or brain tumor is unlikely.

I hope my answer helps. Please get back if you have any follow up queries or if you require any additional information.

Wishing you good health,

since I do not have any other symptoms what would your concern level be?

I am working on getting an MRI ordered.

Should I be concerned?

I have no drifting. No issues with balance with eyes closed. No issues with finger rapid movement. No memory issues. No fever or weight loss. Again pass all the other tests.

Do get some mild headaches.

If ms or tumor would it develop that quickly since end of July MRI. ?

Brief Answer:
There is no cause of concern.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back.

Since you have no other symptoms, there is no cause of concern.

Also, it is unlikely for you to develop MS or tumor, if July MRI was normal.

So, there is no need to worry.

Best wishes,

Dr Sudhir Kumar MD DM
