Question: Hi,

My cousin made some blood tests and the following results are bad:

WBC 25.33. Normal (3.91---10.9)

NEUT% 78.6% Normal (41---70.7)

LYM% 12.2. Normal (19.1---47.9)

NEUT. 19.94 Normal (1.8---6.98)

MON. 2.09. Normal. (0.29---0.96)

I know that the reason can be an infection but no simptoms.

Can you let me know what can be the reason for such bad results?

Thank you
doctor

Brief Answer:
Hello. Occult infection is the most likely explanation

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear. I understand your concern. It will be little difficult to answer just a lab result without examining the patient. There can be several reasons for an elevated total wbc . Foremost is any infection which is not evident. Otherwise, any stress can also lead to transient rise in wbc as a defence mechanism. Lastly, it can be a spurious result also and a repeat test from a reputed lab is recommended.
Thanks and regards
