Question: Hi Doctor, I went to the hospital to get my tube checked because I have been trying to have a baby for some time now. I have a son which I had in 2011, then a miscarries in 2013. since then have not had another baby. so the doctor,s result after HSG is ,the appear to be some filling of the fallopian tube on the right and there is some spillage of contract to the peritoneal cavity noted on the right as well. Normal appearance of the right fallopian tube is not well-defined . The tube may in fact be abnormal.|The left tube was never seen filled with contrast and is presumable occluded. There is some leakage of contrast from the endometrial cavity to the uterine interstitium, draining by uterine veins.

Brief Answer:
Repeat HSG

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for your query.

I have read you query and I understand your concerns about HSG abnormality.

Following is my reply:

1) Your tubes are unlikely to be affected as you have conceived twice already. There must be something wrong with procedure.

2) It is likely that there was spasm of the fallopian tubes which has given this rsult.

3) You can repeat HSG in another laboratory with anti spasmodic drugs to see if you get normal report.

I hope I answered you query and addressed your concerns.

Let me know if you wish to ask any further questions. I will be glad to help you.

Regards,
Dr. Mahesh Koregol.

Hi Doctor, thanks for the answer,I don't know if I should be relief of my stress now or wait. So what about the left tube being blocked or the right one might be open but abnormal!. Can i still get pregnant?

Answered by Dr. Mahesh Koregol (1 hour later)
Brief Answer:
You have good chances of pregnancy

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

You can still get pregnant if one tube is open. Please get repeat HSG test done to assess the status of fallopian tubes again. I think spasm of left tube has showed it as blocked.

You stand good chances of pregnancy as you were pregnant twice.

Hi Dr,thanks for your answer. But is there any harm of doing the HSG twice?. I had one kid in 2011 and miscarries which was clean up through D &C, could that not be any cause of blockage?

Brief Answer:
No problem

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

D&C would not have caused such damage.

Fallopian tubes can be tested again by HSG. No harm.
