What Does Negative CMIA HIV Test After Non Penetrative Sex Indicate?

default
Posted on Mon, 11 Aug 2014
Question: Hello. I live in XXXXXXX & about 1 month back I went to a massage parlor where the girl after giving me massage with oil gave me a handjob. While giving me handjob with one hand she pushed her one well oiled finger of other hand in my anus & vigorously kept on stroking it till I came. Although I did not feel any pain but after this I became scared and checked her finger too which she had put in my hole. There was no visible cut but her nails were long. After about three weeks after the incident i.e. about a week back I noticed a skin rash in my left underarm about 5” below my armpit. It was a very dry skin patch about 1”x1” with no pain or itching. I washed it thoroughly & the dry skin flakes came out leaving a reddish brown skin discolouration behind which exists till date and the skin is no more dry. I experienced no other symptoms .
Can this dry skin rash be symptomatic of HIV infection & can this kind of exposure lead to HIV. Should I get tested ? Please answer my query as I am extremely worried and going nuts..
I asked above question 12 days back. I was told that to alley my fears I should get tested with either DNZ PCR or 4th generation combo test since episode is recent.. So six weeks after the incident I got tested with HIV1 &2 antibody P24antigen combo (CMIA) test which came back negative.
Now my question is should I treat this negative result as conclusive or again get tested at 12 week mark

Brief Answer:
No further testing required

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Welcome to health care magic.

I understand your concern about exposure to HIV, and you have undergone correct testing which should detect HIV by six weeks.

CMIA test detects both antibodies against HIV and P24 antigen, if this test result is negative, then your HIV status is definitely negative.

There is no need for further testing in your case.

Coming to the rash, based on the details you have mentioned in your query, I am suspecting tinea infection which usually presents with patch like lesions in areas of increased sweating like armpits, thighs and groin.

I suggest you keep the area clean and dry and observe if rash is increasing in size.

If the rash increases in size or you develop any other symptoms like itching and irritation, you need to get it examined by a skin doctor and get appropriate treatment.

I hope I have helped clear your doubts.

Please get back if any more clarifications.

Thanks.
