My question is, tinea versicolore can tourne haïr white or grey ?
Brief Answer: Severe and untreated stage
Detailed Answer: Hello,
I have not come across greying of hair just due to tinea versicolor during my practice. May be an untreated and severe, long standing fungal infection can damage the melanosomes in immunocompromised patients ( HIV, Immune...
Good evening. My father is suffering from a skin disease - tinea (like 'daad' we call normally). He has got this on his hands. he has got patches and skin looks very dry in that patch. We've shown to a skin specialist and his treatment is going on since almost a month. In between doc has changed medicines also. but still it has not improved. Can you please suggest.
Hello dear, It might be a fungal infection, as thought by your doctor, but then it should respond to antifungal treatment.
As he is having thyroid problem, this dryness can be due to hypothyroidism also. Usually tinea effects single hand or a particular part of body. It is rarely bilateral. And...
hi, am suffering from tinea on my upper arm, forearm and on groin area. the skin has darkened considerably..pl give me advice about natural treatment and how to get my normal skin color back..there is no oozing, itching or pain and hence went unnoticed for a long time..many thanks
** 1. since case is diagnosed which means you are under regular supervision and management. 2. for wide spread fungal infections one need to take oral antifungal treatments. [clotrimazole, fluconazole, terbinafine] 3. stay away from the sun during peak hours [11 AM to 4 PM] or ensure a good...
I have bouts of tinea on the side of my instep on my feet and somehow I must have transferred the tinea to my left eye which is now very itchy all round the eye. It is two days now. My left eye weeps all the time and I use Zaditen eye drops as well as an ointment which I get prescribed. But it is around the eye that is itchy.
When I get the tinea on my feet I can get rid of it by tinea spray but it reoccurs after a few weeks. How can I get rid of the tinea permanently? Would appreciate your advice. Thank you. XXXXXXX.
Hi there XXXXXXX 1. Air all your shoes in bright sunlight (sunlight is the best antifungal) 2. Similarly treat al other socks/towels/fomites with hot water et al; it recurs because of the fomites or if your immunity is down for some reason eg diabetes 3. The eye lesion may be different & may...
I think I have Pityriasis Rosea, Doc has given me Nizoral Cream for Tinea/Ringworm, on day 3 of using now and no improvement, red spots still getting larger and spreading. My symptoms are also more consistent with Pityriasis as I started with one 'Herald' Spot and a few days later more spots started to appear. Also my partner has not caught tinea from me and he has been in skin to skin contact with me umpteen times since we first seen the rash. I want to know if UV will help me if it is PR? I am getting married soon and I understand it can take months for PR to go by itself! I have changed my diet to virtually sugar free and I am eating very clean. I haven't really itched much since I have had the rash and I think this may be down to good diet and using soap free shower gel and have good hygiene anyway. Any advice/guidance would be MASSIVELY appreciated. Also would like to know the potential cause? I have been under a fair of stress in recent months... Thanks Laura
Welcome to Healthcare Magic
The diagnosis that you made yourself might be true because that is how Pityriasis Rosea progress. When it is a herald patch stage , i e when only a single lesion is present even the best of the best doctors might mistake it for tinea, but once daughter...

i am 49 , 6'4'' and 49 years old and had tinea between the toes very occasionally on an off for years but easily cured with lamisil. unfortunately i wore boat shoes without socks for a month about 6 weeks ago and caused the instep and heel on one of my feet to become inflamed, red and itchy. i have been on anti-biotics for a month and also lamisil; but it is not going away. should i try vics vapour rub - i have nothing to lose? i have also had the big toe nail on that foot infected for 5 years and have tried oral and loceryl but without success. dont know if it is related.
back to the instep and heel. on the instep there are about 6-10 spots which are itchy. the heel becomes red sometimes but it has not had itchy spots. it was close to being cured a couple weeks ago but has come back.
Thank you for the query,
Before coming to the possibilities I would like to ask you few leading questions : 1) Do you sweat a lot over soles? 2) Do you see any scaling or peeling of skin over insteps? 3) Did you take oral limisil or topical one & how long you tried? 4) Are you suffering from...
Hi doc. I am 24 yrs old and i noticed i have white spots around my elbows when i m in cold temperature but it disappears in warm temperature. A dermologist told me it may either be tinea versicolor or vitiligo. But based in what i ve read, it s far from those two. What may be the cause of these white spots?
I am really concerned about a rash that I have on my skin. It s something that s on my neck and chest area that fades and comes back. It looks like light spots but itches and has a dry feeling. I think it may be tinea versicolor but I don t know.. Please help
Hi, my boyfriend has been struggling with tinea versicolor pretty much all over the top half of his body. They are clustered reddish/brown patches that he gets every spring/summer. He went to the doctors a few years ago and they told him it was a fungus and provided him with antibiotics. Since we already know what the skin condition is, is there another remedy or medication we can buy without a prescription to get the fungus patches to go away? And also what can he use to keep them from coming back? Thank so much!

I believe I have tinea versicolor. I am trying to treat it. Anyways, I noticed that I have developed small dark brown spots about the size of an eraser overnight. They are on my back and possibly my arms. Just a few. I am 28 male. Are these just moles developing?
