What Does My Urine Test Report Indicate?

Question: three year old female, urine test only positive for ktones, negative for glucose. A fasting glucometer reading of 125 please advise

Detailed Answer:
Hi...I understand your concern. I will tell you when such ketonuria can occur isolatedely.

But most importantly diabetes is ruled out as blood glucose is normal.

Other causes include - Metabolic abnormalities such as renal glycosuria, or glycogen storage disease.

Dietary conditions such as starvation, fasting, high protein, or low carbohydrate diets and prolonged vomiting.

I suggest you recheck urine ketones in another week and if still persisting, get back to your Pediatrician for evaluation.
