Sugar Level 140 In Morning, Done Crab Sugar Test, Fluctuating Sugar Level. Normal?

My morning sugar has been between 120-140, I'm not on any meds that will increase my sugar and I have not yet been dignosed. I did a carb sugar test with morning sugar at 126 then 5 hrs later it was 133. I ate approx. 80 grams of carbs, tested 1 hr later 205, 2 hrs 203 and 3 hrs 158. Are these normal ranges or do I need to look more into it?

1. Your FBS is 126 and according to latest WHO guidelines it falls between Impaired fasting glucose (IFG) alongwith provisional diagnosis of Diabetes.
2. Your PPBS (post prandial blood sugar) is 133, which comes under Normal glucose Tolearnce [3. Since you performed oral GTT (glucose tolerance test), which is on the higher side and thus is an important diagnostic criteria for Diabetes mellitus:
Normal Values are:
After 1 hour [190mg/dl]
After 2 hour [165mg/dl]
After 3 hour [145mg/dl]

PS: This will require further evaluation if someone is pregnant to diagnose GDM [gestational diabetes mellitus]

4. Consult with a Diabetologist regarding the same, who might ask for urine examination for Renal Glycosuria.

General & Family Physician Dr. Pavan Kumar Gupta's  Response
Hello,
Your reports indicate that you are having diabetes because your fasting blood sugar levels are between 120-140 and PP sugar after two hours is 203.
You may kindly repeat the tests.
Since these sugar levels are just above normal levels,it may be brought to normal by proper diet control and doing regular aerobic exercises for 45 minutes a day.Reduce your weight.I hope you shall be able to control your sugar levels just by lifestyle change measures.
If lifestyle changes do not bring down the sugar levels or if they increase, then you can add a medicine like METFORMIN.
Keep consulting your doctor at regular intervals and keep a close watch on your sugar levels.
Thanks
