Posted on Tue, 22 Aug 2017
Question: I have had two abcesses on the left are-I recently felt a small lump under the left axilla. An ultrasound was done and it showed a fatty helium where I felt the lump. The radiologist suggested I have a 6 month follow-up. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis, and a history of LCIS of the left breast. Should I be overly concerned?

Brief Answer:
No reason to be immediately concerned

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.

Abscess in the arm which has been drained is due to infection, not cancer. And the node which was seen on ultrasound had fatty hilum, so it is most likely benign.

I understand that you have history of LCIS, but at present there is nothing to worry. A 6 month follow up is appropriate.

Hope this helps.
Regards
