Question: Hello I was wondering on the blood test for your thyroid what results do they look at, to see if the thyroid in hipper or hippo?
If your thyroid is acting up can it make me feel like I have the flu, where when I eat I get sick, and runned down.

Brief Answer:
The normal TSH level is 0.5 to 4.70

Detailed Answer:
Hello
I read carefully your query and understood your concern.

To see the thyroid function it is necessary to do the thyroid tests:TSH ,T3 and T4

The Reference Range for the TSH hormone is: 0.5 - 4.70 µIU/mL. (Some laboratories are0.3 to 4.5, or other similar ranges.)

Above range, and under 10 µIU/mL is "subclinical" hypothyroidism
Over 10 µIU/mL is overt hypothyroidism.
Under 0.1 to 0.5 µIU/mL is considered evidence of subclinical hyperthyroidism,
Less than 0.1 may be overt hyperthyroidism.

"Normal" TSH levels are considered to exclude hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism.

Levels above 1.5 to 2.0 µIU/mL may be indicative of thyroid dysfunction.

The thyroid gland produces T4 and T3. But this production is not possible without stimulation from the pituitary gland (TSH).

When the TSh is high ,the thyroid hormones are low.
Low/suppressed levels of TSH, Total T4,T3 and / or Free T4 and free T3 levels that are above the reference range are considered evidence of hyperthyroidism.
Elevated TSH, Total T3,T4 or Free T3,T4 levels below the reference range are considered evidence of hypothyroidism.

YOur symptoms can be due to a normal flu/cold or if you suspect for a thyroid disease it is more probable to be hypothyroidism.

Hope my information is helpful.
If you do the thyroid tests and you have other questions about the results ,feel free and ask.I will be happy to help.
