Posted on Tue, 22 Aug 2017
Question: I have a pain in my left foot due to which I limp. The area is exactly before the long toe ends towards the midfoot. I visited a ortho & the xrays are clear but blood test uric acid was 7 a week back. With diet control the uric acid is reduced to 6 now. But the pain in my left foot is very bad. There is foam which comes when I urinate. Please advise what all blood test & urine test I need to take to find out what is the issue. Also please tell me the cure to my foot problem. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Lack of medial arch support in foot and possibly kidney disease.

Detailed Answer:
Hi I am Dr Gopal Goel Orthopedic surgeon.
In my opinion the pain you have in foot is due to lack medial arch support. For this I would recommend medial arch support in your shoes.
The second problem is foamy urine- It normally comes when there is increase in cells or proteins in the urine. I suggest urine routine and microscopic examination . Urine culture and sensitivity , Kidney function tests and ultrasound abdomen.
Thanx for the question . Please feel free to ask any other Question.

Brief Answer:
Details as below.

Detailed Answer:
Hi ,
1.The area marked is usually not affected by increase in Uric Acid. Any case uric Acid 7 is not severe to cause so much pain. The area affected is generally joint of big toe with swelling and pain.
2. you need routine examination and culture sensitivity of urine ,Blood tests for kidney functions and ultrasound examination of abdomen to see any gross pathology in urinary tract. These are the basic tests and depending on these reports further tests can be recommended.
Thanx for the question.

1.If the pain is not related to uric acid what is it the cause of the pain.

2.Do you think foamy urine has linkage with this foot pain.

Brief Answer:
Pain could be tendinnitis , cannot say about corelation.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
The pain at this site is usually due to tendinitis( swelling in the tendons of toes ) or stress . Needs further investigation( like MRI after clinical Examination) , including proper clinical examination to find out the cause of pain.
At present it is very difficult to find any correlation between urine problem and foot pain. I should be able to tell you better after investigations.
Thanx
