Posted on Sat, 28 Nov 2015
Question: Hello Dr. XXXXXXX Hanif,

Last week, you requested I went for more blood tests for:

TIBC/Transferrin levels.
UIBC     Levels.
%Transferrin Saturation.
Ferritin Levels in serum.

The lab could only do the TIBC and Ferretin Levels in serum. I am going to Vegas early December and will try to get the other 2 tests done there. In the meantine, would you like to review the results for the TIBC and Ferretin or wait till I have the other 2 tests done early December? Thank you, XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
You need a consultation from a Hematologist !!!

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back and thanks for the consultation at my virtual clinic!

I appreciate your efforts for uploading the pictures. I have reviewed your labs and that's what I was suspecting and ordered for additional testing for that. You have Normal/High levels of Total Iron; have Low TIBC and Low UIBC; and high levels of Transferrin saturation--All of this makes a picture of either a disease named Hemochromatosis OR Sideroblastic- OR Hemolytic-anemia.

What is needed next: Your thorough in-person Physical examination with keeping in mind the background of your medical history and Labs. Your Hemoglobin was not that low.

For that you need to make an appointment with a Hematologist as per your ease for thorough evaluation. He may go for further testing if needed.

Hope I answered all of your questions. Let me know if you have further clinical concerns or doubts. I will be more than happy to get back to you with expert opinion. Please don't forget to give Five Star rating to help me assist my patients in a better way; and, please don't forget to 'Close This Discussion'.
