Brief Answer:
Multiple slip disc due to degenerative spine

Detailed Answer:
Hi there

Thanks for the query

According to the MRI report attached, your mother seems to have multiple slip disc, most of which are mildly compressing the nerves that travel to the legs.

This is due to age related degenerative changes in the spine.

She must avoid bending forwards or lifting weights. Application of wet heat over the back will give relief.

She can benefit from medication, Physiotherapy and Epidural steroid injection.

I hope I have answered your query.

I will be available to answer your follow up queries.

Regards,

Dr.Aashish Raghu

Can you suggest some exercises that will help her reduce back pain?

What are the precautions she should take to prevent her back problems to increase further?

Brief Answer:
Precautions

Detailed Answer:
She can lie on her back on a comfortable cot and lift each leg keeping the knee straight for 10 seconds each. This can be repeated 5 times a session for 2-3 sessions a day.

Also she must avoid sitting for more than half an hour at a time and can get up and walk around for sometimes before sitting again.

She must avoid bending forwards and lifting weight. She can wear a lumbosacral belt for support while sitting and standing.
