What Does My MRI Scan Report Indicate?
Question: Dr. Chandrakant,
Hello doctor. Just a follow up about the right upper quadrant pain...
My GI doc ordered an MRI, to which it came back completely normal, yet the pain persists. Why I'm following up is to ask if it's something worth worrying about if the general RUQ area, not too often, goes numb in way, where it doesn't feel the same as the left side (such as ticklishness or general feeling isn't present)? Not only to see if it's a need to worry, but with he other symptoms, if this may actually help identify this pain that blood work and MRI can't find?
My doc said it's not cancer but I don't know what else could cause this.

It is a good news that the recent MRI of the abdomen is normal. (2/13/2017)
I can understand the concerns.
General RUQ pain, not too often, goes numb in a way, where it does not feel the same as the left side indicates more towards neurological cause like slipped disc, nerve entrapment or past history of Shingles or so.
MRI of the Thoracic spine would have been netter.
You may please get an opinion of a Neurologist so that a proper diagnosis is done.
Not really to worry much.
But better to have a proper diagnosis either by confirming or by ruling out certain problems.
