Question: My son has nf1, headaches and am vomiting. Attached is a pict feom his MRI. Can u tell me what that bright spot is dead center?

This condition still need more images like axial,coronal and contrast images.
Any way,I shall try to explain from limited images.
There is a diffuse mass in mid brain extending to pons and it may be due to glioma.
There are also changes of diffuse cortical atrophy.Gyri and sulci are prominent over the cortex of brain.
Bright spots may be due to small fatty areas as images are bright in T1 weighted images.

could this just be hamaratomas associated with NF1?

Glioma is also grouped under hamartoma.

Focal brain lesions commonly seen in NF1 are optic gliomas,brain stem glioma and cerebral astrocytomas. These are all referred as hamartoma.
