What Does My MPI Stress Test Result Indicate?
Question: Just got perfusion stress tests results via email. Test completed at 5 PM at Clev Clinic. I'm sure that DR. has not looked at yet. Had Prior MI, and 35% ejection fraction. Recent complaints are shortness of breadth that I never had before. Results are a "severe perfusion of the apical septal segment, apical anterior segment and apex" and "moderate perfusion defect in anterior wall, anterior septum, apical lateral segment, mid inferoseptal segment and basal inferoseptical segment". What does this mean? Thanks.

I read your question and i understand your concern. Ejection fraction of 35 is indication of a failing heart and that is the reason for these shortness of breaths lately as it is going towards congestive heart failure. With this ejection fraction your heart is at risk of arrhythmias and complete failure.
The perfusion defects studies showing the apex of the heart is mostly affected severely. These some some different aspects of the heart , the details you don't need to bother about. But it definitely needs management ar an earliest convenience.

The scan study was termed "high risk". What does that mean?
Could all this damage have been their from prior MI. Symtons of shortness of breadth are new..

High risk means needs special care for the cardiac functions as risk or failure and arrhythmia and cardiac block are high which i mentioned the odds in my previous answer.
And yes previous MIs are the reason for this failing heart as MI portion is replaced by fibrous scar and that disturbs the conduction as well as perfusion.
Stay in touch with your cardiologist and do as directed and hope for the best is the key here.

One more question. Why would shortness of breadth now occur as this is a new symptom?

Shortness of breath is not due to MI it is due to decreased ejection fraction. Shortness of breath gets significant below 40 % ejection fraction. Your ejection fraction might have dropped recently and congestion resulting from it causes shortness of breath. its a back flow of blood pooling in lungs due to inability of heart to pump it forward which is causing this shortness of breath.
