What Does My CT Scan Report Indicate?

default
Posted on Thu, 7 Sep 2017
Question: I just had a chest CT and here are the results;

Lungs:Mild linear atelectasis versus scar in the lower left lobe
Bronchi:The visualized airways are patent. There is mild bilateral bronchiectasis
The rest of report seems normal (with the exception of vascular structures, but that will be a question for someone in cardio.)

Is there anything that has to be done acutely? Is there anything that can be done for improvement?
Would the above results be the reason why I choke on mucus shortly after lying down to go to sleep?
Thank you.

Brief Answer:
nothing to worry

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to HealthcareMagic,

I can understand your concern,

As per the Chest CT result yes this is the reason that you have some mucus when lying down. But the good news is that the Bronchiectasis is localized and it will not create any serious problem.

In my opinion, you should use some mucolytics orally once like Acetylcysteine for one week, drink a lot of water too to help the secretions to be more liquid.

The atelectasis is nearly normal in cardiac patients and thy need no specific treatment indeed.

Do the flu vaccination every year too.

You don't need to do anything else acutely

Don't worry so much, nothing serious will happen.

Take care and feel free to ask me again
