What Does A Black Pimple On Penis Indicate?

default
Posted on Tue, 25 Nov 2014
Question: Several days ago I found a spot on the base of my penis that resembled a black-head pimple. The black head has gone to be replaced by a crater. Around this ulcer the penis is red. It has been sore throughout.

What is it and how should I treat it?

Brief Answer:
Needs investigation.may be std.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for follow up query.
As there is multiple partner history and even unprotected intercourse history. It is better to rule out STDs like chancre(painless) or chancroid(pain).though it may be simple wound also.
You can go for STDs tests like smear examination, vdrl, HIV, etc.which is usually done in your set up.
You may need topical antibiotic like fucidin or mupirocin.and oral antibiotics like azithromycin under supervision after discussion with your doctor.
You can get back for any clarification
Thank you

I'm away at the moment and won't be able to see my doctor soon. Is there any over the counter medication I should consider in the meantime.

I regularly shave my penis and scrotum and I recall now that this particular area at the base of my penis sometimes felt a little sensitive when shaving. Don't know if this has any relevance or not.

Hi, thank you for your responses. I have been applying a topical antibiotic as advised and also have been taking doxycycline.

I now have a red patch stretching from the original sore and on to the scrotum where there is a white bump which appears to have a hair at its centre. There is also a cluster of white bumps adjacent to the original sore. Please see attached photo.

No these are completely different. They appeared as they are and haven't changed and nor have they caused any pain. They are not really lesions but more a discolouration of the skin. I don't see the relevance of these to the issue at hand.

What about the additional symptoms i described in my follow-up query? You haven't addressed these. This response to your question is going to use up one of my follow-up questions despite the fact that I am answering a question rather than posing another one.

Brief Answer:
May be due to irritation or allergy.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for follow up query.

I needed a clarification that the ulcer was not formed due to the removal of the similar lesion seen in photos. They appear like seborheic keratosis or warts. Removal of these forms crater as seen here. It takes time to heal. We do not want to waste your questions.

If it is not so then it may due to folliculitis as mentioned earlier.

Now there are some allergic or irritant component causing redness and white water filled lesions. It may be due to any soap or cream or substance or else. Please stop applying any cream.
Just wipe area with warm saline water 2-3 times a day and continue oral antibiotics. See there is no friction or irritation.
You should consult a doctor for complete examination and investigation.

You can get back for any clarification

Thank you
Dr Bharatesh
