Posted on Wed, 7 May 2014
Question: Dear doc, I have a few white spots developing on my penis head. When i rub them then become like small white rings of skin. After a couple of days its gone and i have plain skin. But then again it comes back at another point on the head of penis. It dosent pain or itch or there is no discharge. Do i need to worry if its an std. As i havent had any unprotected sex except for with my wife. Please advice. Too worried.

Brief Answer: Possibilityof yeast.Examination, investigation need Detailed Answer: Hi Welcome to HCM. Thanks for posting your query. This is possible if your wife has an yeast infection. Yeast infection may persist with or without symptoms (white discharge or itching genitalia) in women. Following an intercourse you may likely to develop such white spots on your glans penis appearing and vanishing. If you either becomes a diabetic or an immuno-compromised individual you will likely to have more severe manifestations. Once the diagnosis established with examination and investigations, it is not difficult to treat. Anti-fungal antibiotics by oral and topical route for 3-4 weeks for both of you will clear the infection. Consult your Dermatologist or gynecologist, they will help you in this regard. Get Well soon. Brief Answer: No unprotected sex. not worry about STD/HIV. Detailed Answer: Hi, WELCOME BACK. I never consider you to have either STD or HIV as you don't have any unprotected sex other than your wife. Yeast infection can occur to anybody without any extra or pre-marital sex. Regarding your test for HIV, if it had been done after any high risk activity then it is a conclusive one. As you don't have any high risk activity you need not bother about HIV/STD. Dr S.Murugan

Brief Answer: You are well immuno-competent from your history Detailed Answer: Hi, Welcome once again. Nothing to worry about. If you are Immuno-compromised your lesion would never heal without aggressive treatment. Just because you are immuno-competent, your white spots vanish ad recur. Consult your physician, you will be alright. Dr S.Murugan
