What Do Rashes On The Legs And Stomach Indicate?

default
Posted on Mon, 27 Mar 2017
Question: Hello. I am a female 29 years old weigh 135lbs i consider myself to be very healthy & i eat a well balanced diet as well. But for the past 10-12 months I have been dealing with what seems like a rash. It began with my legs, then my stomach, and now this rash has been mainly on my arms and my hands. Physically this rash looks like mosquito/flea bites. Mind you i do not have any pets nor have i had a pet in the past two years. I thought this might be caused by bedbugs as well, but this was a fail as I did not find anything. I get random red/pink bumps which i find uncomfortable so therefore I scratch. I do not have an intense itch. I have felt like the feeling of crawling all over my body. On my hands this rash gets very dry, and remains mostly between the webs of my fingers & wrists.besides the dryness in my hands i will also get the red/pink bumps. These bumps do not contain fluid nor are they itchy. I have also seen black specks on my skin where ever i have this rash & bumps. They mostly come out when i apply coconut oil and these black specs come to the surface. I have children and it seems i have passed on this rash onto them as I see them scratching. I have also found out recently that my air conditioner has mold&mildew as well as a high amount of dust. I could not afford the technicians to clean out the ac ducts at this moment. I do not know if this information is relevant but i include it as i know there are people who have an allergy reaction to mold in the home. I applied hydrortisone , antibacterial cream , rubbing alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, sulfur cream , tea tree oil, none of these items helped. I will attach pictures as well if that is possible. Thank you for your time, may God bless you

Either eczematous rash or scabies, upload pictures, answer few questions

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at HealthcareMagic
I have gone through your complaints and understand your concern.
According to your complaints it seems to be either eczematous rash or scabies.
I would recommend you to upload the pictures of the affected areas under the report section of the site so that I can have a clearer picture of the condition and can guide you accordingly.
Moreover I need to ask you few questions:
Is the itching more during the day or night?
Are you having personal or family history of eczema, hay fever or asthma?
Do you have history of dry skin?
Kindly revert with the answers and pictures.
Regards
Dr Asmeet

i have attached pictures. please review them so you can give me an exact diagnosis and available treatment for my skin condition. i no longer get these bumps on my legs, stomach, or arms. as you will see in my pictures they look like healed scars. im not sure if my natural body lotion that contains eucalyptus, tea tree oil and coconut oil helped rid of these bumps . as i dont get them anymore in those areas but have brown spots left from what used to be active bumps. also i eat a raw garlic clove a day which i have heard also aids in removing parasitic worms and might work as a natural antibiotic. these are statements from articles i have read online only, i cant say they are true for sure. i do not itch anymore like i use to at first when i found out i had this rash, which was 10-11 months ago. i mostly get this rash and bumps on my hands now. which leaves my skin in that area very dry. my three year old son does itch a lot in his back and on the back of his neck and i have seen these black specks on him as well. i need a cure as soon as possible. thank you for your time and help i truly appreciate it.

Brief Answer:
eczematous rash, topical steroid, moisturising lotion & antihistaminic

Detailed Answer:
According to your complaints and the uploaded pictures it seems to be eczematous rash which usually occurs in individuals with sensitive skin.
It can be related to mold and dust as these 2 factors will aggravate the condition.
If I was your treating doctor I would recommend you to apply topical steroid like clobetasol propionate cream diluted in a moisturising lotion containing white soft paraffin in the ratio of 1:3 on the affected areas twice daily for 2-3 weeks and take antihistaminic like tablet Cetrizine 10 mg once daily at bedtime.
Steroidal preparations are prescription drugs and you need to see the doctor in person to get them.
Besides this avoid hot water for bathing, instead use lukewarm water, avoid harsh soaps and use soap free cleansers for bathing, avoid direct contact of woollen clothes with the body, apply coconut oil on the body and avoid central heaters.
These measures will help in resolving your problem.

thank you so much for your diagnosis. i am so grateful to you and the knowledge you have provided to me. i will definitely get an appointment for my son and i. as my 6 month old and 7 year old daughters dont seem to have this skin reaction. it only affects my son and i. my husband does not show these symptoms as well. but he will get a red rash while wearing vinyl gloves at his work place during an 8 hour shift. would this be considered contact dermatitis as he doesnt show signs of a rash when he does not wear the gloves at home. usually organic aloe vera calms down the rash. i will attach a picture of his hands.

Brief Answer:
Welcome!! All the best!!

Detailed Answer:
I have reviewed the attached photograph of his hand and yes it looks to be contact dermatitis to the gloves.
He should avoid using vinyl gloves and apply topical steroid like clobetasol propionate cream on the affected areas twice daily.
