There is also some underneath that are sort of open because of rubbing. I have cream on them but it just gets messy and doesnt really work

Brief Answer:
Ulcer.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome To HCM. I am Dr Anshul Varshney.
This is an ulcer and in sexually active persons we consider sexually transmitted diseases (STD).
Since you are not sexually active I would consider following possibilities:
1. Friction or traumatic ulcer.
2. Post infective ulcer.

You would require a good antibiotic containing cream like Fusicidin for local application.

This is definitely not yeast infection.

Seek your doctors help and share my opinion.
If you have any further query, please ask me.

Will it go away untreated? If so, how long? If treated, how long does it take?

Brief Answer:
Needs treatment.

Detailed Answer:
This should not be left untreated. Duration of treatment would depend on actual diagnosis.
However usually it takes 2 weeks to heal the ulcer if treated properly.
Good luck.
