Posted on Sun, 3 Jan 2016
Question: I was getting high fever 102-103 degrees 6days back. My doctor asked to do some tests which showed urine infection. Urine test report and other reports are attached. She gave me antibiotic for five days name of antibiotic is Augpen along with it she also gave Nise. It helped to reduce fever. I am no longer having any fever. She asked to visit her after finishing the medicine course of five days and along with that the latest urine routine test report. Now, the current report is showing high pus-cells than the previous report but now the bacteria is absent. Even the urine culture report is not showing any growth. All the reports are attached for your reference. I want to whether I am suffering from any infection and need any further medication and what does increased pus-cells means in the latest report.

Brief Answer:
Urine analysis findings has improved.

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Your findings may indicate improving UTI(urinary tract infection) but pus cells should come down to normal level i,e below five.
Improved status is indicated by absence of fever and no bacteria in latest urine report.
It is important to know that do you still have burning urination , increased frequency of urination like symptoms or not. Please let me know.

You may need proper clinical evaluation and investigations.
You may need repeat urine culture and sensitivity if symptoms are present.

You should drink lot of water.

Get well soon.

Hope I have answered your query.

Hi Dr. Thank you for your Reply.

There is no burning urination.
Frequency of urination is 4-5 times per day.

But doctor from urine culture ( done just after a day of starting medication) its evident that bacteria growth stopped the 1st day itself then what could be reason for increase in pus cells after 4 days (38 to 48)( report comparison before and after antibiotic course) I was expecting it to go down at least.

Brief Answer:
Generally bacteria stops growing when antibiotics are started.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Sorry for replying late

Generally bacteria stops growing when antibiotics are started where as pus cells are dead WBC and it may take some time for clearance.Pus cells indicate that our body is still fighting against microbes.

It is good that you don't have symptoms,it indicates improvement.
