default
Posted on Thu, 8 Jun 2017
Question: Hello. I am currently traveling and about 2 hours ago i began having small chest pains on the left side that almost feel like a muscle spasm that feels like very brief pressure/heart burn. It goes away very quickly and comes back feeling the same way every 10 or 15 minutes. It feels bit better when I am stretching or walking. I feel fine otherwise. I took two advil and some heartburn medicine. Can you please let me what may be causing this. Thank You!

Brief Answer:
Likely gastritis and reflux

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Most probably it's an acidity, gastritis, and reflux.

Symptoms are very much consistent with reflux. Do you also have upper abdominal pain, nausea, bloating, burping, increase in pain on food, sour water feeling in throat, these are the other symptoms and may be associated. Probability of cardiac pain is less.

Avoid advil as it may aggravate the gastritis. You should also avoid fatty, oily and spicy diet. Have some walk after having food instead of taking rest. Have multiple small meals instead of heavy meals. Avoid smoking and alcohol, if any.

You should have PPI/antacids like tab Omeprazole or Pantoprazole 40 mg or Esomeprazole-Domperidone combination before breakfast once a day for 2 weeks.

Hope this helps you and get back if you have any doubts.
Regards
